Fire In The City

Ugochi Oluigbo, TVC News

This story focuses on Africa’s largest dumpsite, Olososun. A fire which started there in early March has been burning over two months, right at the heart of Lagos city. It shows the unity between a church and a mosque sharing a fence behind the dumpsite as they struggle to stop the fire.

Nigerian environmental journalist, Ugochi Oluigbo gives an insight into how it connects to climate change, and the challenges the scavengers are faced with, as the government prepares to shut the landfill.
